As a Michael Newton Institute Life Between Lives® Certified Therapist, I facilitate an experience that goes beyond personal history and into the transpersonal. A Life Between Lives® (LBL) session is a profound, expanded state of awareness that may help you reconnect with your soul’s essence, receive guidance, and remember who you are beyond the roles you play.


If you’re feeling called toward deeper meaning—seeking clarity about your purpose, relationships, recurring life themes, or the deeper “why” behind your journey—an LBL session can be a powerful doorway.

What Is a Life Between Lives® Session?

Life Between Lives® refers to the experience of being between incarnations—often described as the “inter-life”—where we exist beyond the physical body, as an energetic, spiritual identity.


An LBL session is a deep, guided hypnotic process designed to help you access this expanded state of awareness and connect with your own spiritual wisdom. In this state, many people experience a stronger connection with what is sometimes called the superconscious—the highest level of inner knowing—and with the presence of guiding beings or spiritual support.


This is not about adopting someone else’s beliefs. It’s about creating the conditions for your inner experience, your truth, and your insights to emerge—gently, safely, and at your pace.

What LBL Can Offer

People seek Life Between Lives® sessions for many reasons, but the heart of the work is often the same: to remember, to understand, and to reconnect.


An LBL session may support you in:


  • Reconnecting with your deeper purpose and feeling more oriented toward what matters now
     
  • Experiencing a renewed sense of peace and “belonging” in a larger spiritual context
     
  • Understanding recurring patterns in relationships, emotions, or life themes from a higher perspective
     
  • Gaining insight into what you’re learning in this life—and why certain experiences may feel so significant
     
  • Exploring the nature of consciousness beyond physical life, which may soften fear and bring perspective
     
  • Deepening connection with guidance, inner wisdom, and the sense of being supported
     

The most important outcome is often not where you go or what imagery you see, but the first-hand felt sense of your own expanded identity—and what that unlocks inside you.

How an LBL Session Works

Every facilitator has their own style, but the overall structure of the Life Between Lives® process is consistent and intentional. It’s designed to help your nervous system settle, your mind relax, and your awareness naturally expand.


Step 1: A Preparation Session (Past Life Regression)


In the Michael Newton Institute method, it’s recommended—and typically required—that you complete a full Past Life Regression session before an LBL session.


Why?


Because it helps you and your facilitator:


  • get familiar with your natural hypnotic, regressive experience
     
  • identify and work through any “blocks” that could limit depth
     
  • uncover themes and patterns you may want to explore further
     
  • confirm that deeper levels of awareness are accessible for you
     
  • prepare your mind and body for a longer, deeper session
     
  • build trust and comfort with your facilitator’s voice, pacing, and guidance
     

Typical time: Many Past Life Regression sessions are around 1.5–2 hours.


Step 2: The Life Between Lives® Session


The LBL session itself is a deeper journey. It generally begins with a brief exploration of a relevant past life (a “mini past life regression”) and then continues into the inter-life—the space between incarnations.


This is done intentionally: moving through the end of a past-life experience often creates a natural “bridge” into the inter-life state.


Typical time: An LBL session may range approximately 2.5–5 hours, depending on your individual process and what unfolds.


Step 3: Integration & Aftercare


An LBL experience can be spacious, emotional, validating, or deeply peaceful—sometimes all at once. 


After the session we take time to:


  • ground and re-orient you fully
     
  • reflect on key themes and insights
     
  • explore how to apply the wisdom practically in your daily life
     
  • identify supportive next steps (journaling prompts, gentle practices, follow-up session options, etc.)
     

Optional (recommended): A follow-up integration call can help you translate spiritual insight into real-life clarity and action.

What Hypnosis Feels Like in This Work

Many people feel curious (or nervous) about hypnosis—especially if they’ve only seen “stage hypnosis.” Therapeutic hypnosis is different.


In this setting, hypnosis is typically experienced as:


  • deep relaxation + focused inward attention
     
  • a state similar to guided meditation, visualization, or being absorbed in a daydream
     
  • awake and aware, with the ability to speak and respond
     
  • a natural state you already enter in everyday life when you “zone out” or become deeply absorbed
     

You are not “gone.” You’re simply relaxed enough for deeper inner awareness to come forward, while the usual mental chatter quiets down.

What You Might Experience in the Inter-Life

No two sessions are the same.


Your experience may be vivid and visual, subtle and felt-sense, emotional, symbolic, or more “knowing” than “seeing.” Some people experience a clear connection with guidance; others experience a calm, expansive awareness and deep inner clarity.


Many sessions include some (but not necessarily all) of the commonly reported “station stops”—phases of the journey that may unfold naturally. What matters most is not forcing an itinerary, but allowing your inner process to reveal what is most helpful right now.

How to Prepare for Your Session

No two sessions are the same.


Your experience may be vivid and visual, subtle and felt-sense, emotional, symbolic, or more “knowing” than “seeing.” SomThe most powerful preparation is simple: practice quieting the mind and clarifying what you most want to understand.


Here are a few suggestions:


1) Practice calming your nervous system


A few minutes a day of meditation, breathwork, or guided relaxation can help you access the LBL state more easily.


2) Write your questions


Before your session, you’ll be invited to create a short list of questions you’d like to explore. Consider:


  • “What is the deeper purpose of this season of my life?”
     
  • “What am I here to learn through this relationship pattern?”
     
  • “What part of me is ready to heal or reclaim?”
     
  • “What would my highest wisdom want me to remember right now?”
     

3) Release expectations


Reading books or hearing other people’s stories can be inspiring—but your session is designed to meet you exactly where you are. The most meaningful experiences tend to come when you arrive with openness rather than a scripted outcome.

Frequently Asked Questions

“Will my experience be like the stories I’ve read?”


LBL sessions often have similarities across people, but your experience will be unique—and guided by what your own inner wisdom and spiritual support bring forward.


“How long does it take?”


A Past Life Regression session is often 1.5–2 hours, and an LBL session may be 2.5–5 hours. Many people experience the LBL as a longer, immersive process.


“Am I in control?”


Yes. In therapeutic hypnosis, you are typically aware and able to respond. You can pause, stop, or re-orient at any time.


“Do I need to have specific beliefs?”


No. People from many spiritual and religious backgrounds explore LBL work. The emphasis is on your direct experience and inner knowing, not adopting a doctrine.


“What if I don’t ‘see’ anything?”


That’s common—and not a problem. Some people perceive through imagery; others through emotion, body sensations, memory-like impressions, or simple “knowing.” We work with your natural style of perception.
